Depression

Depression

If you’re finding it hard to make it through your everyday routine and have less interest in things you normally enjoy, it’s time to talk with a professional.

How do I know if I have depression?

Common symptoms of depression include the following:

  • Poor appetite
  • Unexplained weight fluctuations
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Feelings of guilt or hopelessness
  • Anxiety
  • Restlessness
  • Loss of interest in activities that once brought pleasure
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Chronic aches and pains with no clear physical cause

Why do people get depressed?

Research suggests that depression stems from genetics, biological factors, environment, and individual psychological factors. Episodes of depression has also been linked with chronic conditions like cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

What are my treatment options?

Most common treatment for depression are psychotherapy and medication.

I focus on psychotherapy for treating depression.  I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to treat episodes of depression.  CBT has been proven effective in treating depression.
